Calm Games
Minecraft
A simple cube game with no rules or expectation only you, maybe some friends, and all the creativity and imagination in the world. The only restriciton is that the entire world is made up of cubes, so spherical buildings aren't ever going to be perfect but they are doable. There are bosses however if you want some sort of a goal, but they require some pre-setup and grinding of resources.
Terraria
Not as simple as the previous game, as most tools, armor, and resources are blocked by bosses. This game is filled with bosses to beat and people to gather into a town. Each boss harder than the last, this game is time consuming and challenging, but the down-time between each boss is nice, and it's multiplayer meaning you can get help for the more challenging bosses.
Spiritfarer
A calming game about caring for spirits and letting them pass on their own time to the afterlife. You find and develop relationships with people who in "limbo" take the form of an animal, you feed them, chat with them, and at a high enough friendship level can even hug them. You do tasks for them and build them a home. But after all that you have to let them pass off into the afterlife gently.
Staxel
A farming game in which you inherit an old abandoned farmhouse. You're goal is to repair it and start your own farm of crops and animals. You can also interact with the towns people and help them with their tasks. this includes building them a house/shop of their choice, getting them a certain material, or just helping them find a missing object, and you can dress your own character in wacky clothing.
Sims 4
A life simulator game where you can make anyone you want and have them live whatever life you want. If you want you can do playermade challenges which can add difficulty or goal to the game if that is needed. Otherwise you can also build their homes, decorating them however you please, just be careful around stoves and grills, sims are known for starting fires at low cooking levels.
Horror Games
Resident Evil
This well-known videogame, it typically known for its long-lasting zombie series which lasts about 5 games, and although they keep the idea of a dangerous virus they have since strayed from using zombies. Such as in Resident Evil 7, the latest installment, in which a woman takes control over a hive-mind fungus to develop werewolf-like beasts and other monsters all for the goal of attempting to revive her daughter she lost centuries before.
Phasmaphobia
A multiplayer or single player ghost hunting game, you enter houses, schools, prisons, and other buildings in search of whats haunting it. The great thing is, the game uses proximinty chat, which means you have to be within a certain distance to be able to hear someone else. Careful though the ghost also hears you and if you anger it, it will hunt the player. The only goal is to find where the ghost is in the building and then figure out what type of ghost it is.
Iron Lung
Despite sharing names with the iron lung for polio patients, this actually takes place in a submarine deep underwater. With no vision to the outside you are only given a map, your coordinates, and a sensor that detects what is around you, meaning you have to navigate in complete blindness, praying that you are going the right way. Every now and then you can take a picture of the outside, which may show animal skeletons, all the while odd noises are heard outside.
Sign of Silence
Another game that uses your microphone to detect sound, except the monsters are physical and can be seen everywhere. Your goal is to somehow escape a long abandoned forest surrounded by mountains, which staying completely silent in fear it will attract the monsters that hunt you. Careful of the trees though, as some of them are actually monsters that will scream out to attract the others. Maybe bring some friends with you, for safety.
Layers of Fear
Layers of Fear is a storytelling game about a deteriorating family unit. A painter father neglects his wife and daughter who abandon him. In his mind he is trapped in their mansion, the walls changing when he turns around. His only goal is to get through the mansion to find painting pieces to recreate a photo of his wife, although it does not prove useful or helpful in the end, only acting as a false comfort. The game is long, relying on ambience than jumpscares.
